I started learning SEO when I was 18. I found it so fascinating and I wanted to pursue it in my studies. Unfortunately, colleges and universities did not teach search engine optimisation.
So I dropped out of College to pursue SEO. I was obsessed and absorbed every piece of content I could. A lot of the content I absorbed was outdated and it hurt my results. So I decided to take a scientific approach and set up different websites and implemented different practices to see which one would bear fruit.
An SEO specialist does many things. This includes doing deep dives into websites with crawling tools and being able to interpret that data. From this data, they identify the fundamental issues and what’s holding the growth of the site back. The SEO specialist will then create a plan of attack which he or she implements.

Each of those 3 items must be optimised in order for your search traffic to increase. And you must keep in mind it’s all about quality over quantity, more content and links does not mean greater search traffic. Quality content and links means greater search traffic.
If you’re considering hiring an SEO consultant, make sure to ask them what experience they have working with websites like yours. Ask them how long they’ve been doing SEO, what results they’ve attained and why you should hire them over someone else.
You want to be able to gauge their abilities. You don’t want an SEO who talks a great game but can’t deliver tangible results for clients.
I would highly recommend going for an audit first and see what they’re able to produce. This is a great way to test their skills and see if you’re a fit to work together. With an SEO audit, you can see what they’re capable of without executing a full search campaign.
